Kim Hunter is a seasoned singer-songwriter whose music has been shaped by years of dedication and real-life experiences. Raised around music, with her sister and uncle in a band and her father running bars in Oklahoma City, Kim was hooked on performing from a young age. After hearing her family play, she asked for a guitar the very next Christmas. This early exposure to music led her to form an all-girl band in Fort Worth, Texas, marking the beginning of her journey in the industry.
Over the years, Kim has developed a sound that is both polished and deeply personal, with songs that draw from her own life. Whether it is her hit single "Hometown Song," which made waves on the Texas Internet Chart in 2025, or "Fire Down in Texas," inspired by a heated phone call she overheard in traffic, Kim's writing captures the emotions and stories that resonate with listeners. Her music reflects who she is, real and relatable. She is unafraid to dive into the raw truths of life.
Kim’s career has seen her play across a number of states, including Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado, and she has had the honor of performing at iconic venues such as the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Her musical journey has been marked by notable chart successes, including her songs “Two Steppin Country,” which reached #5 on the Roots Music Chart, and "Fire Down in Texas," which spent six weeks at #1 on the EACM music chart.
Despite these successes, it is the deep connection she has with her audience that drives her. Kim loves playing at "listening rooms" like Shakespeare Wine Co. in Oklahoma, where the crowd is more engaged and truly there to enjoy the music. It is this kind of intimate setting that fuels her passion for performing, not for the money, but for the love of sharing her art.
Kim’s resilience is evident in more than just her music. After suffering a stroke, she came back stronger than ever, becoming a more professional, seasoned performer who is less nervous and more confident than before. Along with her music career, Kim works a full-time job to support her passion, proving that dedication to her craft is the driving force behind everything she does.
Her songwriting is a true reflection of her life, with many songs inspired by real experiences. Kim writes on the go, often pulling over while driving to jot down lyrics when inspiration strikes. One of her most beloved songs, “Cowboy Anthem,” was written 20 years after the initial idea came to her while traveling with a show for David Ball. The song was later finished after her co-writer reached out via social media.
Kim’s previous EP, Another Song About Texas, was well-received and showcased her ability to connect with her fans through storytelling and heartfelt performances. Her latest single, "Hometown Song," has continued to gain attention, marking a significant milestone in her 2025 journey as an artist. She remains deeply committed to her craft and looks forward to sharing more of her music with the world.
